This version connects to your save files to discover newgens and staff without exporting shortlists, and it now supports both FM26 and FM24 at the same time. You can run either title independently or even in parallel, and the walkthrough below applies equally to both versions—just read every FM26 reference as FM24 when needed. Follow the steps below to install the new packs, wire up the savegame reader, and activate your assignments. The walkthrough is absolutely the same for all systems, whether you use Windows, Mac, SteamDeck or Linux.
Download the main picture pack and unpack it inside your FM documents folder.
Download the archive and drop it into your FM26 graphics folder.
Download NG_Regens_MainPack.zipYour FM26 graphics folder is the same place you keep any real-world logo or face packs. For most setups it lives at Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\graphics\.
Unzip NG_Regens_MainPack.zip there and you will get Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\graphics\NG_Regens\ - that is the folder to point the setup wizard at.
IMPORTANT: Your unpacked NG_Regens folder MUST be somewhere inside the FM graphics folder. Otherwise FM won't be able to find the pictures and won't be able to load them into the game.
Grab the version for your OS below. On Windows or Linux you simply run the downloaded file—the program needs no installation. On Mac you will probably need to allow the program to run via Gatekeeper.
At first you will be presented with the Initial Setup Wizard. On the first screen you can select your language, theme style and FM version. If you intend to use both FM24 and FM26 in parallel, you can select one of them here and later add another one from the Settings menu.
On the second screen the system will want you to pick your FM Documents folder. In most cases it should be picked automatically. If not you will have to pick it manually. FM Documents folder is the one that has editor data, filters, games, graphics etc subfolders inside it.
On the third screen you will have to pick the NG_Regens picture folder. If you have unpacked it to the suggested path of FM Documents folder/graphics/NG_Regens, then it will be picked up automatically. If not you will have to pick it manually. The system expects the folder that is called NG_Regens and has all ethnicity picture subfolders (Afroamerican, Afrocaribbean etc) directly inside it.
If you have used another version of the NG Software before (the old 25 version or the 26 version with memory reading) it will present you with an optional screen to migrate your old savegame profiles to this new version. It creates a copy of the selected profiles, so you can always go back if wanted.
Now with initial setup finished we can go straight to picture assignment process. In the left menu you can click on the Generate button and that will open a list of savegame profiles. Each save you play will require its own savegame profile to store information that is unique to that save. So each save you play in FM requires a separate savegame profile, 1 save = 1 profile. You can have as many parallel saves as you want.
Since we are just starting, we don't have any profiles yet. Click on Add profile at the bottom of the screen to create one. Give it a name (can be anything, I usually type the name of the team I manage, so it is easier for me to remember what is what) and press Create.
The profile has been created. Let's now press on Generate & Activate to actually generate some pictures. You do not need to have your game opened in the background. You can, but it is not required.
A Generate Wizard will popup. We will select Load from a save file here to automatically load everything. If you want, you can later use Assign pictures manually screen to manually change specific photos.
On the next screen we need to load a savegame that we want to scan. Click on browse and pick your game. The software should pick your savegame folder automatically, if not, it should be FM Documents folder/games. The software will then load up your save and prepare it for the scan process. Press Next when the save has been completely loaded.
The scan will now start and as soon as it finishes you will be presented with a result screen. Click Next to proceed to the final step.
The software will now generate the actual configuration file for FM to load. As soon as it finishes you will see a green confirmation message and you can now close the wizard and the whole software. Don't forget to reload your FM24 skin or restart FM26.
Each new season new players will be generated by the game so you will have to repeat this process to let the software read up information on those new players and give them faces. On each subsequent save scan you will be presented with an additional option to keep your already assigned faces. That Preserve option is selected by default, so you don't need to change anything.
Your newgens get obviously wrong pictures (white faces on africans or vice versa, male pictures of females etc)? This is probably due to FM ID Recycling. Here is a quick example:
An Italian newgen with ID 123456 appears at an Italian club. When you generate the config, he gets assigned an Italian face → He isn't signed, gets released on a free, and eventually retires → During the next youth intake, a Nigerian newgen with ID 123456 appears somewhere. He's a completely different player, but since we're still mapping ID 123456 to that Italian picture, he ends up with the same Italian face.
The good news: my software can detect these cases and reassign the correct pictures. To fix this simply save your game, do another scan in Preserve mode and then reload your FM24 skin or restart FM26.
